Bone Broth How To

Bone broth is aaaammmmmaaaazzzzzing. It is so good for you, and it's so useful. I use broth to make homemade ramen noodles, a base for sauces, to saute veggies, and in casseroles.

Ingredients:

  • Scraps from asparagus, celery stalks, broccoli stalks, cauliflower stalks (whatever you have)

  • One onion- can leave whole, or cut

  • One garlic clove- peeled

  • Bag of baby carrots

  • One celery rib

  • One whole organic chicken

  • Filtered water

Toss in veggies, one whole organic chicken, and cover the chicken with filtered water.

Cook on high in the crockpot for 4 hours, then turn the crockpot to low for 8.

I usually start the crock pot after dinner, and turn to low before going to bed.

In the morning I pull as much broth as I can before setting the chicken out to cool. My baby loves cooked carrots so I pull these out for him and shred the chicken. The chicken is perfect to use for sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, or casseroles.

*Make sure the water covers the chicken, otherwise it may dry out.

*If you are using mason jars to freeze broth, make sure to leave space because it will expand when frozen. Make sure broth is completely cooled before moving to the freezer or the jars will bust.
